Our Aboriginal Health Plan shares how we will continue to work on building relationships with Aboriginal partners and strive to improve the health services we provide to the Aboriginal people who live within the Vancouver Island Health Authority.
VIHA’s updated Aboriginal Health Plan 2012-2015 is now online
Thank you to everyone who participated in updating and reviewing VIHA's Aboriginal Health Plan - 2012-2015. The new Aboriginal Health Plan was developed with input from Aboriginal partners, VIHA staff and other local service providers. It was unveiled at a special signing ceremony held on the traditional territory of the We Way Kai Nation/Cape Mudge on March 27, 2012 in Campbell River.
The Plan, entitled Remember the Past, Reflect on the Present, and Build a Healthy Future, will serve as a framework and a statement of commitments for VIHA’s Board, leadership and staff in their work to continue to improve the health status of Aboriginal residents.
The Plan will be an "evergreen document”, which means that, while we intend to review implementation annually, we are also open to revising the plan to better meet the needs of our clients and reflect local priorities which will change and evolve over time. Thank you to everyone who participated in updating and reviewing VIHA's Aboriginal Health Plan.
