Clinics

The Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) Aboriginal Health clinics serve people who may wish to see an aboriginal health professional about their health concerns.

Clinic Doctor

The clinic doctor can provide specific advice on all health concerns including:

  • prenatal and maternal health
  • HIV/AIDS and Hep C
  • diabetes and diabetic medication
  • mental health and wellness
  • addictions
  • arthritis
  • You can see the doctor at the Victoria Native Friendship Centre @ 231 Regina Street by appointment.  To book an appointment please call their receptionist at (250) 384-3211 or go to:  http://www.vnfc.ca/

    • Regular Clinic - 10:00 - 3:00 - Wednesday

    The clinic is mobile and will come out to the reserves. Dr. Nezil's medical service is free and confidential.

    Nurse Practitioner

    The nurse practitioner can provide specific advice on health concerns including:

  • Women's health
  • Youth health
  • mental health and wellness
  • other health issues

  • Regular Clinic - 10:00 - 3:00 - Tuesday
  • Youth clinic - 3:30 - 5:00 - Tuesday
  • Regular Clinic - 9:00 - 12:00 - Friday
  • Francoise's service is free and confidential.

    Diabetes Team

    The Diabetes Team travels to outlying aboriginal communities on South Vancouver Island to provide health clinics on many topics such as:

    • Diabetes Prevention and Treatment
    • Healthy Eating
    • Active Living
    • Health Screening for blood pressure and blood sugars
    • And any other requested health topic, including:
      • Arthritis
      • Kidney
      • Cancer

    Community Health Team Visits

    Each month, the Aboriginal Health team visits outlying aboriginal communities.  The schedule is as follows:

    • Pacheedaht - First Thursday of every month - weather permitting
    • Tsartlip - Second Wednesday of every month
    • Sooke - Second Thursday of every month
    • Paquachin - Third Thursday of every month

    Additional community visits will be posted here as details become available.

    If you are a medical student interested in a clinical rotation, or practicum, you must be enrolled in a University/College to be considered, accepted or approved.
