The Aborignal Health Initiative Program (AHIP) supports community-based projects by administering funds through the Aboriginal Health Program of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA).
All funding is applied for through the request for proposals (RFP), which is mailed to First Nations and Metis organizations on Vancouver Island. These AHIP funds may be accessed for projects that support the following six strategic themes:
- Build relationships
- Enhance access to health services
- Engage in capacity-building
- Create service innovation
- Enhance reciprocal accountability
- Address the broader determinants of health
