Nutrition

The Aboriginal Health Department has two full-time dietitians who deliver health services to many nations on Vancouver Island.

The Community Nutritionist provides programming and services to the nine First Nations communities and their urban population around southern Vancouver Island.

The Food Security Dietitian provides services to Central and North-Eastern Coast First Nations communities and their urban communities.

Both provide nutrition information and support with a strong focus on food security. They do this by supporting communities as they improve access to healthy traditional and modern foods an by supporting projects like:

  • Vancouver Island Traditional Foods Network
  • Community Food Initiatives
  • Good Food Box Program
