The Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) continuously monitors and tracks health care data and other information to assess how well the organization is meeting its goals and objectives.
The performance measures on this web site are published to provide the public, staff and stakeholders with information that:
- is relevant to the public and staff;
- is easy to understand;
- reflects VIHA-wide performance; and
- is based on reliable data.
The performance measures relate to the high-level goals (listed to the right) established for the health system by the Ministry of Health and to VIHA’s goals and strategies as outlined in its Five Year Strategic Plan.
VIHA uses a rating system that compares performance to international, national or provincial standards, or to peer health care services and/or to VIHA’s own performance over time. The performance is rated using a three-step legend:
