Shelley Garside owns and operates Garside Consulting, providing human resource management services to private and non-profit organizations in the Central Vancouver Island area. She is a Certified Human Resource Management Professional (CHRP), an experienced and professional coach, career transition specialist and human resources professional with extensive experience in public and corporate environments.
Shelley has a strong knowledge of varied work environments and work practices. Her organisational assignments have been just as varied ranging from developing HR policies and practices, induction programs and career development workshops to assessing competencies through behavioural interviews of senior managers, and recommending HR solutions to performance issues.
She has developed career planning and performance management programs for corporate clients incorporating key performance indicators and competencies, and targeted development to help people reach their career goals.
In addition to her experience in human resource management, Shelley worked for several years as a Program Director in the Mental Health and Addictions field. She has been involved in a variety of community support and fundraising activities including the role of Board Chair at Malaspina University College, Director of Nanaimo Youth Services and President and Director with the Nanaimo Art Gallery. She has also volunteered her time with the BC Human Resource Management Association, the Crystal Meth task force, and at the BC Summer Games, in addition to many other volunteer roles over the past several years.
Shelley received her baccalaureate degree from Laval University, and has continued to engage in professional training as education and professional development are a personal and professional passion. She received the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal for Community Service in 2003.
Shelley lives in Nanaimo with her husband Dave, where they both enjoy the many activities that island life has to offer.
