Comox-Strathcona Acute Care

The Campbell River and District General Hospital and St. Joseph’s General Hospital are both about 50 years old and there is a need for significant capital investment.

VIHA is proposing that two new hospitals be built, one in Campbell River, the other in the Comox Valley.

Background

The Board announced a proposal for two new hospitals, and hosted Open Houses in January 2009 where the following materials were shared:

Following discussions with the Comox-Strathcona Regional Hospital District (CSRHD), health care providers and community leaders, the VIHA Board of Directors approved a modified plan in May 2009.
