Executive Vice President & Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Brendan Carr was appointed to the role of Acting President and Chief Executive Officer on April 2, 2013. He has worked with VIHA since March 2012 as the Executive Vice President & Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Carr joins VIHA from the Capital District Health Authority (CDHA), Halifax where he was the Vice President of Medicine and Assistant Professor, Dalhousie University.
Dr. Carr holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Business Administration (MBA). He is an active educator and health services researcher, a Certified Physician Executive (CCPE), and Canadian Healthcare Executives (CHE) member.
Dr. Carr leads Medical Affairs, is co-lead of the Integrated Health Services portfolios with Catherine Mackay, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and co-leads the Quality, Patient Safety, Research and Academic Development portfolios with Dr. Lynn Stevenson, Executive Vice President, Chief Nurse, People, Organizational Development, and Practice.
