Dawn Nedzelski

Chief Nursing Officer & Chief of Professional Practice, Learning and Performance Support 

As Chief Nursing Officer and Chief of Professional Practice, Learning & Performance Support — and in her role as Acting Chief Nursing Information Officer — Dawn plays a key role in supporting and developing clinical programs that allow our staff to deliver the highest quality health and patient-focused care to the people we serve throughout Island Health.

Dawn provides strategic direction for Professional Practice, for members of the interdisciplinary health team including nursing, allied health, as well Learning & Performance Support and Patient Experience.  

Dawn has worked as a nurse for over 30 years, and has served Island Health and Island Health’s predecessor organizations extensively in a variety of front line roles, including Emergency, ICU, and Gorge Rehabilitation. Dawn has extensive leadership experience as a Clinical Nurse Educator, various Manager roles and Director of Community Hospitals. 

Dawn holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Victoria, a Masters of Arts in Leadership (Health Specialization) from Royal Roads and holds appointment as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the UVIC School of Nursing.
