Vice President, Planning & Improvement

Georgina MacDonald was appointed the position of Vice President of Planning & Improvement for the Vancouver Island Health Authority in September 2005.

Georgina is responsible for leading strategic and capital planning for the organization.  Her team is committed to involving communities in planning to best meet the population health needs and was recently recognized by the Canadian Council for Health Facilities Accreditation (CCHFA) as a leader in community consultation.  Through excellent leadership skills and a strong sense of what community needs are, she has led the development and implementation of a five-year strategic plan that is updated on an annual basis. 

Georgina joined the health authority in 2003 as the Regional Director of Planning and Community Engagement, with over 15 years of practical experience in the health care sector. Prior to this she worked in various senior capacities within the Saskatchewan and British Columbia Ministries of Health.  

Georgina has an undergraduate degree in Business from St. Francis Xavier University, and Masters degrees in Arts from Waterloo University and Health Administration from Dalhousie University.
