Vice President, Operations & Support Services
In December 2001, Joe Murphy was appointed Vice President, Operations and Support Services for the Vancouver Island Health Authority.
In this role, Joe optimizes the deployment and effectiveness of available resources and provides leadership in the areas of Facilities Operations, Materiels Management, General Support Services, Protection Services, Auxiliary/Volunteer Resources and Foundation Liaison.
Throughout his years in healthcare Joe has held several senior leadership roles, including: Vice President of Finance and Operations Support, Regional Director of Clinical Support Services, and Vice President, Operations Support. He first joined the Greater Victoria Hospital Society in 1987 as Director of Pharmacy Services, and before that held several positions including Manager of Pharmacy Services with Travenol Canada Incorporated and Assistant Director and Director of Pharmacy Services at Saskatoon City Hospital. Joe has also held cross appointments at the College of Pharmacy, University of Saskatchewan as Assistant Clinical Professor and Clinical Instructor.
Joe earned his Bachelor degree in Pharmacy from Northeastern University in Boston, his hospital pharmacy residency at University Hospital in Saskatoon, and his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Saskatchewan.
