Vice President, People, Organizational Development, Practice and Chief Nurse Executive

Dr. Lynn Stevenson joined the Vancouver Island Health Authority in November 2005. 

As VP, People, Organizational Development, Practice and Chief Nursing Executive, Dr. Stevenson is responsible for Human Resources and Organizational Development within VIHA and ensures a coordinated and inter-professional approach in the achievement of excellence in professional practice in nursing and allied health disciplines.

As well, Dr. Stevenson works in partnership with Dr. Owen Heisler, Executive VP and Chief Medical Officer to co-lead the Quality and Safety and Research and Academic portfolios.

Before joining VIHA, Dr. Stevenson was the Leader, Professional Practice and Chief Nursing Officer with the Fraser Health Authority.  Prior to that, she was the Provincial Head of Supportive Care, Community Development and Chief Nursing Officer at the British Columbia Cancer Agency, a member of the Provincial Health Services Authority.  Dr. Stevenson has also held a variety of senior health care positions in the former Capital Health Region and Greater Victoria Hospital Society.

Dr. Stevenson has a PhD in nursing with a research focus on organizational change, leadership and practice, is a Certified Health Executive (CHE) and has completed a CHSRF Extra fellowship.  She holds Adjunct Assistant Professor positions at both the University of Victoria and University of British Columbia.
