Vice President and Chief, Communications and Public Relations

Toni O'Keeffe was appointed to the position of Vice President and Chief Communications and Public Relations in 2012. She has been a professional communications and public relations practitioner for over twenty-five years, a field of work that she loves.

In her role as Vice President Communications and Public Relations, she is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction to a diverse range of communication functions including: communications planning, issues management, media relations, health promotion, partnership development, government relations, community relations, and web and social media engagement.
As a senior administrator, Toni has been described as innovative, a talented human resources manager, intuitive, visionary, “quick” and a strong leader that possesses the ability to get things done on budget and usually ahead of schedule. 

Toni has a rich background having held senior positions in the post-secondary industry, the Federal Government and the not-for-profit sector. Her fields of specialty include: managing change, communications management and relationships development, brand management, and media and government relations.

She holds a master's degree in Communications and Public Relations Management from Royal Roads and attended the University of Victoria’s Fine Arts Program.

Toni is a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society and the International Association of Business Communicators.  She lectures on a broad range of communications topics within both the college and university system in BC.
