NANAIMO – A brand new Emergency Department for patients in the Nanaimo area came one step closer to reality today as the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) announced that CMF Construction Ltd. of Nanaimo is the successful bidder for the construction of the Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Emergency Department that will include dedicated mental health services.

VIHA Infection Prevention and Control conducted hand hygiene audits across the health authority in February 2010. The results show compliance and “would be compliance”, which is what compliance would be if staff completed hand hygiene appropriately and did NOT wear a watch, rings with stones, artificial nails or nails with nail polish.
