NANAIMO - In the last several days, the emergency department at NRGH has treated an unusual number of patients from the community with symptoms of gastroenteritis (nausea, vomiting and diarrhea). This high number of cases suggests an outbreak in the community. As a result of exposure to patients in the Emergency Department, a number of patients and staff at NRGH have fallen ill with gastroenteritis and an outbreak has been declared at the hospital.
