VICTORIA – A Vancouver Island Health Authority pilot project is helping surgical patients prevent potential complications resulting from medication discrepancies, including taking many over-the-counter and herbal medications too close to a surgical procedure. Surgical patients at Royal Jubilee Hospital consult with a clinical pharmacist during the preadmission clinic, resulting in a significant reduction in medication discrepancies upon admission to hospital.
