COURTENAY- The Vancouver Island Health Authority is launching an immunization program in Courtenay to help prevent a severe form of invasive pneumonia that has been found within homeless populations and illicit drug users across BC. The outbreak has resulted in serious illnesses within this vulnerable population, including an invasive bacterial blood infection that requires intensive hospital care. Read More (PDF)
