VICTORIA – On a typical day last year in the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) 16 babies were born, 202 acute care patients were admitted to hospital, 738 unscheduled emergency room visits occurred, 169 surgeries were performed, 211 CT scans were conducted and 6,586 hours of home support care were provided.
