H1N1 Clinics at Hillside Centre – Important Changes

November 6, 2009

VICTORIA – The Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) is asking individuals who have a ticket for H1N1 vaccination clinics for Monday, November 9, Tuesday, November 10 and Thursday, November 12 at Hillside Centre to please check their eligibility before coming.

Eligibility criteria for H1N1 vaccine will not change next week as originally planned – meaning if you have a ticket for clinics on these days, you must be within the eligibility criteria. If you are not within the eligibility criteria, you will not receive the H1N1 vaccination on these days.

As an added service and convenience to customers, Hillside Centre was issuing tickets with appointment times for the clinics. Initially these tickets were handed out to everyone as it was assumed the eligibility criteria would widen. Provincial and health authority medical health officers have now determined the current eligibility criteria will remain in effect until further notice.

These eligibility criteria are available online at www.viha.ca/h1n1/public/vaccine.htm.

Those who are not eligible for the vaccine, but have a ticket for the Hillside Centre clinics are being asked hold onto their ticket; it can be exchanged at a later date when the eligibility criteria broaden.

Clinics across southern Vancouver Island are experiencing less volume and fewer line-ups. If you plan on attending a drop-in clinic, you do not need to line up early in the morning. Clinics are accepting people throughout the day.
