Nanaimo H1N1 Immunization Clinic Schedule Changes

Nanaimo – Due to limited quantities of H1N1 vaccine, the following immunization clinics scheduled to take place in Nanaimo have been cancelled:

  • Tuesday, November 17 at John Barsby School
  • Thursday, November 19 at John Barsby School
  • Tuesday, November 24 at Mt. Benson Elementary School
  • Thursday, November 26 at Mt. Benson Elementary School
  • Friday, November 27 at Mt. Benson Elementary School

The H1N1 clinic scheduled to take place on Friday, November 20 at John Barsby School, 550 7th Street, has been relocated to Mt. Benson Elementary School located at 4355 Jingle Pot Road. The clinic runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The H1N1 clinic scheduled to take place at Mt. Benson Elementary School on November 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will now take place from 12 noon to 7 p.m.

The next H1N1 immunization clinics in Nanaimo take place on Friday, November 13 at the Moose Lodge, 1356 Cranberry Ave. from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and at the Cavallotti Hall, 2060 East Wellington Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

We are currently vaccinating high-risk groups only.  High-risk groups include:

  • Those under 65 years with chronic health conditions (e.g. asthma, diabetes)
  • Pregnant women 
  • People who live in rural and isolated settings and communities (including all First Nations people living on reserve)
  • Children between six months and under five years old
  • Selected health care workers in high-risk acute care and primary care settings (ie. family physician offices, ICU, Emergency, midwives, nurse practitioners)
  • Those under 65 years who are household contacts of infants less than six months; or
  • Those under 65 years who are household contacts of persons who are immunocompromised

Please note that people 65 years and older are not considered high risk and are not eligible at this time.
