VICTORIA – The Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) is pleased to announce that it will commence negotiations with Stanford Place Holdings Ltd. for urgent care and primary care services in Oceanside.
“Enhancing urgent care and primary care services is very important to Oceanside residents and I am very pleased that this process is continuing to move forward,” said Parksville-Qualicum MLA Ron Cantelon.
Stanford Place Holdings Ltd. is a partnership of Lark Group and Ahmon Group. Lark Group is a full service developer that has partnered with VIHA on several projects including the 500-bed Patient Care Centre currently under construction at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria and an 11-bed expansion at Eagle Ridge Manor, a residential care facility in Port Hardy. Lark Group, in partnership with the Ahmon Group, was also awarded contracts by VIHA to build and operate three complex care and assisted living seniors housing complexes including Stanford Place in Parksville, Sunridge Place in Duncan and Selkirk Place in Victoria.
“Improved primary health care and urgent care for Oceanside residents has been a collaborative vision of all the partners since this process began,” said Jac Kreut, Chair, VIHA Board of Directors. “We are pleased to be another step closer to realizing this vision and look forward to receiving more details from Stanford Place Holdings Ltd. later this year.”
The naming of Stanford Place Holdings Ltd. as the preferred proponent follows an evaluation of proposals received in response to a Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by VIHA in February 2010. Two proposals were received in response to the RFP that called for an external partner to design, build, finance and partially operate a Primary Health Care & Urgent Care facility to serve Oceanside and the surrounding area.
Over the next few months VIHA will be engaging Stanford Place Holdings Ltd. in negotiations regarding their proposal. VIHA’s Senior Executive and Board of Directors will be updated with more detailed information resulting from these negotiations in Fall 2010. Details of the proposal will be shared publicly should a final agreement be reached and a contract signed.
