Request for Proposals Issued for NRGH Emergency Department Interior Design Services

NANAIMO – The Vancouver Island Health Authority has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for interior design firms to oversee furniture selection and installation for the new Emergency Department at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

The RFP is posted on the BCBID website, www.bcbid.ca  (Posting # 09FPNH41-RFP-ID). The RFP closes on November 18.

The successful proponent will consult with VIHA Department of Design & Construction Project Manager and with members of the hospital user group to determine the type, quantity and design of the furniture. The successful proponent will also finalize the selection of the furniture and oversee the tendering process, delivery and installation of the furniture in the ED.

The new ED project will also include dedicated emergency mental health services. The project is currently estimated at $36.9M and will increase the space from 10,365 square feet to 30,000 square feet.  Treatment rooms will increase from 24 to 41 and its design is aiming for LEED Gold.

Construction of the new facility is well underway. Anticipated completion date is mid-August 2012.
