SALT SPRING ISLAND – The regular seasonal influenza clinic scheduled on Salt Spring Island on Thursday, October 29 at Lady Minto Hospital has been CANCELLED.
This clinic was originally scheduled to deliver seasonal influenza vaccine (not H1N1 vaccine) to individuals over the age of 65.
The clinic has been cancelled in order to accommodate and redeploy staff to H1N1 vaccination clinics. H1N1 vaccination clinics will take place on Salt Spring Island November 19 (Fernwood School), November 24 (Fulford School) and December 10 (Salt Spring Island Secondary School). Precise clinic times are available at www.health.gov.bc.ca/flu.
These clinics will offer both the H1N1 vaccine and the regular seasonal flu vaccine. The H1N1 vaccine is free to anyone who wants it. The seasonal influenza shot will also be available at all VIHA mass immunization clinics to those at high risk of serious illness from seasonal influenza, and to individuals at risk of spreading the seasonal influenza virus to those at high risk of serious illness.
