VIHA Aboriginal Health Career Workshop

The VIHA Aboriginal Health Career Workshop is a unique approach towards increasing the number of Aboriginal peoples employed by VIHA. It was developed to give students from grade 8 to 12 an introduction to understanding what it takes to become a health professional. The workshop focuses on six health careers. Students are challenged to produce presentations to their peers and win prizes in a highly skilled quiz based on the knowledge gained.

In the workshop students learn:  about key health careers, time management, grammatical correctness, public speaking, self confidence and of course… have fun!

Steve Sxwithul'txw administers a workshop

The workshop is 1.5 to 2 hours in length and delivered in a classroom setting. There are no requirements for schools or First Nations status, and it is brought to you by VIHA, free of charge on Vancouver Island.

Please contact our Aboriginal Employment Advisor Steve Sxwithul’txw at 250-370-8643 or email at Stephen.Sxwithultxw@viha.ca to book a workshop.
