Health Shared Services BC

The Health Shared Services BC (HSSBC) is a unique initiative that provides non-clinical support services to BC's six health authorities. Services to BC’s health authorities are now provided by a new division of Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) called Health Shared Services BC (HSSBC). St. Joseph's General Hospital

B.C. Ambulance Service

The BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) operates under the authority of the Emergency and Health Services Commission (EHSC), per the Emergency and Health Services Act. The EHSC is mandated to ensure both the provision of emergency health services, delivered through the BCAS, and the provision of non-emergency health and tele-health information services, through HealthlinkBC. B.C. Cancer Agency - Vancouver Island Centre

The Vancouver Island Centre is located next to the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria and is one of five full service cancer centres of the BC Cancer Agency (BCCA). We provide oncology consultations, chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments for people who live on Vancouver Island. Beckley Farm Lodge

Beckley Farm Lodge, a long term seniors care facility located in beautiful James Bay in Victoria. Campbell River and District Adult Care Society (CRADC) is a not-for-profit organization that provides an adult day program. Cool Aid Society

The Victoria Cool Aid Society provides a wide range of programs including affordable housing, emergency shelters, community health and dental services, life skills and job training, and a casual labour pool, for those who need it most. Visit www.coolaid.org for more information.

Cowichan Tribes

The Cowichan Tribes, located in the Cowichan Valley, is the single largest First Nation in BC with over 3,800 registered members with about half currently live on the Reserve. It is comprised of seven traditional villages (Kw’amutsun, Qwum’yiqun’, Hwulqwselu, S’amuna’, L’uml’umuluts, Hinupsum, Tl’ulpalus). The Quw’utsun Smuneem (Cowichan children) Elementary School was opened in May 2004.  Currently Quw’utsun Smuneem teaches Kindergarten to Grade Three.  Eventually the school would like to go up to Grade Six like other elementary schools in the District. Quw’utsun Smuneem is the only First Nations school with enough students to offer separate classes for each age group.

Independent Living Housing Society of Greater Victoria

The Independent Living Housing Society of Greater Victoria was established in 1976 by a group of people who lived at the Gorge Road Hospital in its Extended Care Unit. They shared the desire to live a more independent lifestyle free of institutional constraints, and met to discuss new and innovative options. The Independent Living Housing Society provides homes and support to people with physical and/or cognitive disabilities that maintain and enhance independent lifestylesindividuals in six supported living environments. Inter Tribal Health Authority

ITHA is a multicultural agency. Island Medical Program

James Bay Health Care Centre

At the centre, a team of care providers including family physicians, nurse practitioners, advanced practice nurses and other full-time or part-time health care providers provide the services required by people who are registered as part of the centre's patient roster. Services include a range of care from prevention to community and chronic disease management. Visit www.jbcp.bc.ca to learn more.

Victoria Youth Clinic is a FREE Health Care Service for youth 12 to 24 years. A physician, nurse/counsellor and medical office assistant staff the clinic on a part-time basis. The clinic is currently operated at two different sites: James Bay Community Project on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon/evenings and Monday and Wednesday evenings in Downtown Victoria.

The Kiwanis Pavilion

The Kiwanis Pavilion (formerly the Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion) is a facility specializing in the care of people with dementia. They provide care through all stages of this condition, from the earliest to the most advanced in warm, home-like atmosphere by grouping residents into small families of eight to twelve. Kwakiutl District Council

The Kwakiutl District Council (KDC) is a not-for-profit society whose clients consist of 10 First Nations located primarily in the northeast region of Vancouver Island representing an on-reserve population of approximately 2500 living in remote, rural and urban environments.   The KDC provides government funded programs and services with an annual budget of +/- $2.5 million and 40+ staff. 

Lasqueti Island Last Resort Society

The Societ's mission is to promote health and the prevention of illness to the residents of Lasqueti Island and the surrounding islands.  To provide our elders and those who need care with an environment that honors individual choices, offers safe and quality support, fosters dignity, friendship, humor, respect, understanding, and all aspects of well being, and creates opportunities for integration into community life whenever possible. To assist in achieving these purposes, the Society will operate and facilitate the operation of  programs with the objective of producing a locally run, integrated health care system on the island. Luther Court

Luther Court is a Christian organization dedicated to providing care, shelter, support and community outreach to seniors.  They offer 60 complex care rooms, 30 assisted living apartments, 28 independent apartments and an adult day program.  Luther Court is close to all amenities and part of the Cedar Hill neighbourhood.  Visit www.luthercourt.org for more information.

'Namgis First Nation

The 'Namgis Health Centre, on Cormorant Island was built in 1983. Cormorant Island, with a population of approximately 1500 is located off the northeast coast of Vancouver Island. The Health Centre houses a two doctor medical clinic, community and home care nurses, social services and community development staff. Visit 'Namgis First Nation for more information.

Nanaimo Child Development Centre

Nigel – Services for Adults with Disabilities Society
