The Town of Sidney, located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, is approximately 20 kilometres north of British Columbia’s capital city of Victoria.  Sidney has enjoyed steady growth and has a year-round population in excess of 11,000.  Several elementary, middle and secondary schools, including French Immersion, are available in the area.

With its mild climate, the community is a well-known tourist destination offering pursuits ranging from exploring the Ocean Discovery Centre and an historical museum, to water-related activities such as sailing, kayaking, diving, fishing and whale watching.

Sidney is home to the Swartz Bay BC Ferry Terminal and the Sidney / US (Anacortes, WA) Ferry Terminal and is in proximity to the Victoria International Airport.  A wide range of transportation options are available - from regularly scheduled flights provided by locally-based and domestic airline carriers - to public bus service to all areas of the Saanich Peninsula and Victoria.

Job Summary

Exciting opportunity to work in the beautiful seaside location of Sidney, BC at a recently opened primary healthcare clinic which is striving to create a supportive and balanced environment for physicians and wrap-around care for our patients.

Peninsula Medical offers a team-based approach to primary care where we work in collaboration with other network doctors to cover clinic hours and participate in community hospital care.

We are looking for a physician to join our 6 member physician team (which includes experienced GPs and recent family practice graduates starting their own patient panels) to provide weekly coverage for our physicians’ rotating weekly hospital duties.  Your schedule can be flexible week to week and can be augmented with Walk In Clinic coverage, if desired.  The clinic offers a 10-room family practice and walk-in clinic with MedAccess available in every patient room and has a team of 5 experienced MOAs to support your work.  This is an opportunity to be part of a team and have the interaction with diverse family practice patients, without the responsibility of being the Most Responsible Physician.

Management of the clinic is handled by the Saanich Peninsula Primary Health Care Society, a not for profit with a vision to provide a network of primary care clinics on the Peninsula, providing patients with wrap around care with continuity between clinic, hospital and home-based care.  The Society is committed to health education for both patients and health care professionals to improve healthcare and inspire health promotion.  The team based model encourages collaboration between doctors, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, dieticians – which in turn provides better care for our patients plus the added benefit of allowing a work-life balance for our team of professionals.

The society offers support in finding locum coverage.

Fee for Service Cost Split is 70/30.
