Benefits
May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:Recruitment Incentive - $10,000; Fee Premium – 9.98%; Annual Flat Fee - $8,721; Rural CME starting at $2,200/annum after two years in community, increasing to a maximum of $4,400 after 4 years; Rural GP Locum Program provides $800/day to locum physician with 33 days/annum locum coverage to resident physician.
Community Information
Quadra Island, located off the east coast of Vancouver Island in the heart of the Discovery Islands, is surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.

Quadra has a winter population of about 3,000 swelling in the summer to close to 5,000 people. There is a vibrant Kwakiutl village of Cape Mudge People on Quadra who make their living from fishing, fish processing, aquaculture as well as forestry. Many professionals reside on Quadra Island and work in Campbell River, a 10 minute ferry ride away. There is a local school for Kindergarten to Grade 5 and marvellous daycare and preschool programs as well as a vibrant arts community, small organic farms and two vineyards.

Situated in the center of an absolutely pristine outdoor recreational area, there is an active ecotourism industry focused on fishing, hiking, mountain biking and kayaking. Quadra Island is the ideal location for the outdoor enthusiast!

Job Summary

Provide excellent outpatient primary family medicine care to infants through adults. Collaborate with physician and nurse practitioner colleagues in a team environment. Office procedures may include skin biopsies and excisions, laceration repair, joint aspirations and injections, office gynecologic procedures, etc. Opportunity to provide care on a more remote neighbouring island to a small, isolated community. Opportunity to care for nursing home patients in nearby city of Campbell River if desired. No night or weekend call. No hospital admissions or emergency shifts. Clinic is supported by Island Health to provide emergency stabilization of patients before ambulance transport to nearby hospital emergency department, so physician must be prepared to respond to the very occasional outpatient emergency.

Education, Training and Experience

Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) - Desired
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Desired
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Desired
