Job Summary

The Division of Infectious Disease of the Island Health seeks an energetic and dedicated full-time adult infectious disease consultant to join one other in Nanaimo. 

Services include consultation and case management for a broad array of infectious disease cases.  You have experience in acute care consultation and management of adult infectious diseases, as well as with HIV and immune compromised patients.  Antibiotic stewardship expertise will be considered an asset.

The successful candidate will join and further the development of a comprehensive ID programme serving the needs of Central/North Vancouver Island.  This will include a commitment to providing limited on-call service; hospital-based care (through an outpatient parenteral antibiotic programme, including management of patients receiving long-term antibiotics and those referred for short-term therapy, in-hospital consultative service, and support of an antimicrobial stewardship programme), and outpatient care (including general outpatient infectious diseases and management of patients with hepatitis and HIV infection through a multidisciplinary programme).  While the focus of responsibility is to Nanaimo, opportunity to provide these services throughout Central/North Vancouver Island is envisioned. 

Affiliation with the University of British Columbia, and the Island Medical Program, provides the opportunity to teach medical students and residents.

Qualifications


Education, Training and Experience

• Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) in Infectious Diseases
• Eligible for full licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
