Job Summary

Island Health’s Division of Neurology has opportunity for a Neurologist to join a group of 9 based in Victoria.

Expectation of the successful candidate will include a hospital based inpatient general neurology practice, including full participation in the on-call schedule, and establishing an independent office practice.  Candidates with a sub-specialty interest in stroke, and those interested in the ongoing building of our stroke program and comfortable directing the care of acute stroke patients including overseeing endovascular therapy preferred.

Victoria is an acute stroke referral centre. We have access to full intensive care, neurosurgical and radiology specialties. Our program offers sub-specialty care in stroke, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, neuro-ophthalmology, neuro-muscular and  neuro-behavioural disorders. We work closely as a collaborative group and are seeking engaged team players.

Island Health is affiliated with the UBC Faculty of Medicine and participation in teaching Residents (Internal Medicine and Neurology) as well as the UBC Island Medical Program medical students is required.  Academic appointments through UBC are available. Members of the Division of Neurology are actively engaged in research which is supported by the Island Health Research and Capacity Building Department.

Education, Training and Experience

FRCPC or FRCPC eligible
Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC)
