Job Summary

The Vancouver Island Health Authority has an opportunity for an Obstetrician/Gynecologist at Campbell River & District General Hospital.

Campbell River has an average of 400 births per year and a Level I nursery (36 weeks or more).  The successful candidate will share call (1:2) with another full-time Obstetrician/Gynecologist and will complement a dynamic group of General Practitioners and Midwives providing primary obstetric care.

The Campbell River & District General Hospital has 64 beds and serves a referral population of 60,000.  Active planning is under way for a new 95 bed hospital which will open in 2017 including the development of a Centre for Excellence in Maternity Care for Aboriginal women and their families.

Specialist colleagues include:  otolaryngology, plastic, general and orthopedic surgery, anesthesiologists, pathologist, pediatrics and radiologists (on site CT).

Affiliation with the University of British Columbia’s Island Medical Program provides teaching opportunities to medical students and residents.


Education, Training and Experience

• Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in Obstetrics/Gynecology -  eligible
• Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia
