Immunization

Your child should receive a booster shot before entering school. This will be the last immunization she requires until she is a teenager.

Immunization is one of the most important ways we keep our children and our communities safe from debilitating and fatal childhood diseases. It is very important that you have your child immunized.

  • Immunizations are very safe. The shots contain tiny amounts of dead or weakened virus or bacteria that encourage your child’s body to build the antibodies it needs to fight that disease for the rest of her life.
  • The benefits of immunization far outweigh any risks posed to your child.
  • Though the diseases your child is immunized against are very rare it is still essential you keep his shots up to date to protect him, and others, against a possible outbreak.
  • Call your public health nurse to set up immunization appointments.
