Department of Family Practice

The Department of Family Practice works with and supports family physicians across all communities in the Island Health region.

Lead by a Department Head appointed by the Island Health Board of Directors, we monitor the quality of medical care provided to patients by members of the department of Family Practice at all Island Health sites.  We establish policies and procedures in consultation with the department's members and report regularly on the activities of the department to the HAMAC and to the Island Health Board.  

The Department of Family Practice hosts a Family Practice Council that meets bi-monthly (every two months) to review current initiatives, report on activities of the Department, learn about Island Health initiatives, and seek feedback from site chiefs, chiefs of staff and other members regarding site-specific or regional issues of concern.
