Building Description

Heritage House is located in the historical community of James Bay. Situated in a residential area, it is on the main bus route to downtown. It is close to shops, the museum, Parliament Buildings and Victoria Inner Harbour.

Shared kitchen, living room, dining room and common spaces, as well as a games room, sun deck and outdoor patio.

Philosophy of Care

Heritage House is dedicated to the provision of an alcohol and drug-free home that offers residents an opportunity for optimal health in a structured, supportive environment. This unique Assisted Living setting offers quality resident-centered care and service in a safe home-like environment where staff, families, and members of the health care team work with each resident to assist them in making positive lifestyle choices.

Cost

Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income which covers: 1) monthly rental accommodation; 2) hospitality services: two meals and two snacks daily, weekly housekeeping, laundry, etc.; 3) personal care; and 4) on-site emergency response system.  Residents on income assistance pay a flat rate. Items not included as a part of the monthly fee include: telephone, cable, hydro, personal laundry, household and toiletry supplies, medications, personal care products and insurance.

Accessibility

    • Walkers/canes only, wheelchairs cannot be accommodated.

    • Four outdoor scooter parking spaces with electrical hook-up

Pet Policy

    • Residents are not permitted to keep pets except in small aquarium or terrarium.

Smoking Policy

    • Smoking permitted in designated outdoor areas only.

Facility-Specific Restrictions

    • Tenants must be 55+ years of age
    • Single occupants only
    • Alcohol is not permitted on premises
    • There is only street parking for motor vehicles available to residents

Visiting Information

Visitors must abide by no-alchohol, no-drug house rules. All visitors must be invited by a resident of Hertiage House. Residents are responsible for the conduct of their guests. All guests must sign in-and-out of log book located at the main entrance. No overnight guests permitted and visiting times are 9 AM to 10 PM. Inviting a guest for a meal requires 24 hours notice.
