Building Description

Brentwood House is owned and operated by Beacon Community Services. It is an attractive home style two storey building with resident rooms on both floors and an elevator between floors. Brentwood House has a secure environment for those who require 24/7 supervision. The grounds include a door to door paved walkway and 2 sitting areas.

Building Amenities

Brentwood House has a great room combining kitchen, living and dining on the main floor. Both common areas have cozy gas fireplaces and are bright with large windows. There is onsite laundry.

Neighbourhood/Community Amenities

Brentwood House is located in Brentwood Bay. The village centre, with banks, restaurants, shopping and pharmacies is just ½ kilometre away. Victoria Regional transit system buses stop right outside the door.

Type of Accommodation

Private accommodation. Each unit is a bedroom with ensuite bathroom and single closet. Bathrooms have toilet, sink and walk-in shower. The rooms are bright with large windows. All furnishings must be provided by the resident.

Cost

Residents pay up to 80% of their after-tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation.

Special Recreational Opportunities

Brentwood House staff provide leisure and recreation programming throughout the day. Activities include exercises (strength, stretch, balance, neighbourhood walk), bingo, mental aerobic activities, art, sing along, music therapy, pet visits, and more. Bus outings are scheduled once or twice a month and take in local happenings and events.

Accessibility

Brentwood House is accessible for those who are independent in their mobility. Walkers and canes can be accommodated if resident is using independently. Wheelchairs cannot be accommodated.

Tenants residing on the 2nd floor must be able to use stairs to exit building in event of an emergency.

Motorized Scooter Policy

No motorized mobility devices permitted.

Pet Policy

No pets allowed. Pet visitors are welcome.

Smoking Policy

No smoking.

Safety/Security Features

Brentwood House is a secure building with a numeric keypad entry. Resident’s garden, walkway and patios are surrounded by a secure but decorative fence. This feature ensures residents cannot exit the property.

Residents receive 24/7 supervision and are monitored with an unobtrusive wireless monitoring system.

Facility-Specific Restrictions

Brentwood House is a small, cosy environment which cannot accommodate large quantities or sizes of furniture, personal possessions or equipment.

Meals are home cooked and prepared on site.

Visiting Information

During influenza season (typically December-March), to help protect patients from the flu, all visitors will be expected to wear a mask in our facilities if they have not had a flu shot. For more information, please read our Frequently Asked Questions (PDF) and Influenza Protection Policy (PDF).

Note:  Provincial policy requires all visitors to be informed:  "Violence, foul language and abusive behaviours are not acceptable. Verbal threats or acts of violence will not be tolerated and may result in removal from this facility and/or prosecution.”
