Built in 1994, this two level building with ocean views, has a main floor with resident rooms, dining area, lounges, activity space and reception area. The lower level has the adult day program, staff areas, kitchen, laundry and maintenance areas. Attached to the residential care area there is a laboratory, x-ray department, outpatient physiotherapy and urgent care.

Chemainus Health Care Centre is in a quiet residential neighbourhood. In close proximity to the Chemainus Health Care Centre is a grocery store, beach area, coffee shop and bakery.

Special Recreational Opportunities
Six days a week, activity staff are onsite to provide recreation/leisure programs to meet the physical, social, spiritual and mental needs of the residents. A large wheelchair accessible bus is available for outings. A monthly calendar is published to inform residents and families of our upcoming programs. Please call our Activity Dept. at local 42267 if you have any questions. We value the role of volunteers who provide pet therapy, serve tea and coffee and assist us with many of our programs. New volunteers are welcome; please contact the Volunteer Resources Manager at Island Health to learn more.

Motorized Scooter Policy
Residents wishing to use power wheelchairs or scooters inside the building must first be assessed by our Occupational Therapist. Please call 250-737-2040 extension 42281 for more information.

No pets live at Chemainus Health Care Centre but families/visitors may bring well behaved, clean, vaccinated, leashed pets in for visits. Owners are responsible for observing their pets throughout the visit at all times.

The facility is fenced and gated plus there is a key padded exit.
