Building Description
Facility attached to the Cormorant Island Community Health Centre (CICHC), located in Alert Bay BC. Access to the community of Alert Bay is by scheduled BC Ferry service from Port McNeill. 10 single occupancy rooms with private bath on one floor. Fenced outdoor courtyard and covered patio.
Building Amenities
The dining room looks out onto the courtyard and is open to the common area. A hair stylist comes into the facility.
The CICHC has a quiet or Sacred room. This is a shared space with local First Nations and is available for the residents and their families to use for private family functions and ceremonies.
Neighbourhood/Community Amenities
‘Namgis Elders’ Centre located across the road from CICHC where there are weekly activities available to ‘Namgis First Nations elders. ‘Namgis Dental Clinic with services available to all Mt Waddington residents.
Language, Culture or Religious Affiliation
While there is no religious affiliation to the CICHC, there are several religious denominations on Cormorant Island. The CICHC maintains close ties with the local First Nations communities and are sensitive to the needs of First Nation residents.

10 single occupant rooms with overhead lifts in each room. Each room has a private bathroom with sink and toilet.
Cost
Residents pay up to 80% of their after-tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation.

Activities are provided through CICHC facility-based recreation program.
U’Mista Museum (cultural centre) is located adjacent to CICHC.
Accessibility
By road, approximately 2 km from the ferry terminal and Alert Bay village centre.

Safety/Security Features
All outside access doors to CICHC are key locked or secured by keypad exits. Main access is through the Acute care side of the CICHC.
