Building Description
Gorge Road Hospital was built in 1973. Residential services are provided on two floors of the four floor building. Building is adjacent to the Gorge waterway with the rear of the building facing the water. There is a grassy knoll area behind the building as well for residents to enjoy and walk about.
Building Amenities
Each floor has an outdoor recreation area equipped with patio furniture and a BBQ. A hair salon is operated on the 1st floor. Both floors have resident lounges.
Neighbourhood/Community Amenities
The facility is located in the Gorge neighbourhood and is close to a medium-sized mall, grocery store and small restaurants.
Accreditation
Gorge Road Hospital will be reviewed by Accreditation Canada in early 2011.

There are two units at the facility which provide service for complex care clientele. Both units feature 4 bedroom wards, semi-private and a small number of private rooms.
Cost
Residents pay up to 80% of their after-tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation.
Special Recreational Opportunities
The facility employs 2 recreation therapists and rehabilitation assistants. Activities are offered on weekdays and include group sessions and bus outings among other recreation choices.
Accessibility
The facility is fully accessible for clients who require mobility devices (e.g. walkers, wheelchairs, power chairs and scooters).
There is an elevator that provides transport between the two floors.
Motorized Scooter Policy
Scooters are permitted so long as the resident is able to safely operate this power device.
Pet Policy
Pets are permitted to visit.
Smoking Policy
Smoking is permitted outdoors in designated areas.

The site’s entrances/exits are secured by key pad and code.
Facility-Specific Restrictions
Bariatric clientele cannot have their needs adequately met at this site secondary to the lack of overhead lifts.
