Built in 2008 and located in south Nanaimo. Main building is two stories and includes 80 complex care rooms and 40 assisted living suites. The complex care rooms are all private with 3 piece ensuite. The assisted living suites are one bedroom suites which include a kitchen and dinette area with fridge and stove. Surrounding grounds are landscaped and handicap accessible. There are 3/10 bed cottages on the property that are exclusively for the care of residents with Alzheimer type dementia. Each resident has a private bedroom. Each cottage has a kitchen and dining area where all meals are prepared, living room space and a secure outdoor area that is accessible from the living area.
The building features many amenities and services. In complex care each 20 bed living area has 2 lounges and dining room in close proximity. On the first floor there are enclosed courtyards and on the second there is access to several outdoor balconies. In the assisted living area there is are lounge areas on both floors, a comfortable dining room, laundry facilities, a handicapped accessible tub and access to both outdoor courtyards and balconies. Shared common space in the building includes a chapel, multipurpose activity room, rehabilitation room, and hair salon.
Located in south Nanaimo, Wexford Creek is walking distance from a small shopping area that includes a grocery store, pharmacy, and several restaurants and coffee shops. There is a medical clinic, dental clinic and laboratory service in the shopping area. The building is serviced by both regular transit and handicapped transit services.
Language, Culture or Religious Affiliation
The Good Samaritan Society is a not for profit faith based organization that is affiliated with the Lutheran church. Each of the facilities has a Lutheran pastor who supports the residents directly or by facilitating their access to other religious groups within the community. Pastoral Care Services provides opportunities for people to express their faith in prayer services and celebrations, denominational worship services, hymn sings, Bible study and memorial services for residents. The Chaplain serves all residents and families, regardless of their religious affiliation, based on the residents’ preferences for spiritual care and support.

Type of Accommodation
80 private complex care rooms with ensuite bathroom facilities (toilet, sink and shower). Each room has an electric bed, bedside table, dresser, closet and the capacity to accommodate a ceiling lift.
30 private bedrooms in the three secured dementia care cottages. Each room has an electric bed, bedside table, dresser and closet. The bathroom facilites in each cottage are shared and include 4 toilets and choice of shower or tub.
40 private one bedroom assisted living suites. Each suite has a bedroom, living area, dining/kitchen area (fridge, stove, sink), bathroom (toilet, sink, shower) and storage closet. These suites are unfurnished.
Residents in publicly subsidized units pay up to 80% of their after-tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation.
Special Recreational Opportunities
The Recreation Department provides a wide variety of services, which enable residents to pursue and/or experience a quality leisure lifestyle according to individual abilities, needs and interests. Recreation activities are used as a means to maintain and/or improve physical, cognitive, social and behavioural skills. Fun, personal satisfaction and self-expression are benefits to be gained from participating in freely chosen recreational activities. Programs are offered on an individual, small and large group basis and include activities such as exercises, ceramics, music programs, bingo, baking and many more. Family and friends are encouraged to join in activities and outings.

Motorized Scooter Policy
If the resident is deemed by the rehabilitation staff to be a competent driver and requires the scooter for mobility motorized scooters are allowed at the facility. They must be stored and charged in the resident’s room.
