The Brain Injury Program supports individuals with Acquired Brain Injury to live in the community. Services are arranged in collaboration with appropriate VIHA departments and community agencies.
Services may include:
- Long Term Residential Support, such as family care homes, contracted private group living facilities or MacDonald House group home.
- Long Term Community Rehabilitation, such as tenant support, day programs or community access supports.
- Short Term Rehabilitation and Stabilization, such as trauma recovery counseling, caregiver support etc.
- Education and In-services, which provide an overview and understanding of Brain Injury
- Non Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) tailored to issues relating to Brain Injury, is also available.
Eligibility:
- 19 years of age and older
- sustained an acquired brain injury post birth
- consent to receiving services
- VIHA residency requirements
Application:
Referrals may be initiated by:
- a physician,
- a health care provider,
- a family member,
- a friend, or
- by the person with the Acquired Brain Injury.
