Description

Owned and built by the Sooke Elderly Citizens Housing Society, and operated by the Beckley Farm Lodge Society, Assisted Living is offered in a 4-storey apartment style building conveniently located near the downtown area of Sooke close to stores, banks, pharmacies, physicians and the Sooke Seniors Centre. The Ayre Manor Lodge Complex Care Facility and Ayre Manor Independent Living Units are also on the same site. 

Located in Sooke, it is 5 blocks to retail shops, 3 blocks to the pharmacy and 3 blocks to the bus stop.

Indoor Features

The building has three stories with (2) elevator accesses.  Common dining room on first floor with private dining room attached for special occasions.  Lounges and laundry facilities for personal use are located on each floor.  Hair salon on first floor.

Outdoor Features

There is a patio off of the main dining room with a walking path around the building, limited open parking available on site.

  • Scooter storage and convenient charging stations in corridors next to apartments.
  • Power wheelchairs and scooters (frequent use) can be accommodated in main floor suites. 

Cost

  • Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income for the full package of services.
  • Residents under age 65 receiving income assistance pay a pre-determined set rate.
  • Residents with higher incomes pay up to a maximum amount based on comparative private services.
  • This setting is funded by Independent Living BC.
  • Tenants of this setting who may be eligible for SAFER subsidy will be notified to apply. If a subsidy is granted, it must be redirected to VIHA.

Exit Criteria

  • If an individual experiences a permanent decline in their health condition, a significant increase in care needs, or an inability to make decisions on their own behalf that cannot be reversed, a move from Assisted Living to a more appropriate setting will be necessary
  • A VIHA Home and Community Care Case Manager will assist with this process as required.
