Description

Seniors housing with full services in a four storey, 54-suite building. Newly built in 2002, the settings offers seniors a variety of accommodation from studio to one-bedroom suites with all amenities included.

Indoor Features

The main floor of the building houses the reception area, beauty parlor, library with computers and numerous craft and activity areas. An attractive dining room and big screen TV are located on the main floor. The basement is equipped with a woodworking shop. Each floor has a bright lounge area with views to Mt. Tolmie. Level rear entrance for guest parking and tenant use with paved perimeter walking path.

Unit Features

  • 5 studio suites with kitchenette space.
  • Each suite has a small fridge and place for a microwave.
  • Bathrooms are fully accessible with walk-in shower units and hand held shower heads.
  • Bath seats are provided.
  • Grab bars beside toilet and in shower
  • Monthly fee includes cable and local telephone.

Emergency Response

  • Pendant-style personal alarm system.
  • 24 hour on-site emergency response.

Environmental Considerations

  • Manual or power wheelchairs
  • Scooter storage in basement.
  • No restrictions on use of mobility aids.

Cost

  • Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income for the full package of services.
  • Residents under age 65 receiving income assistance pay a pre-determined set rate.
  • Residents with higher incomes pay up to a maximum amount based on comparative private services.
  • Tenants of this setting who may be eligible for SAFER subsidy will be notified to apply. If a subsidy is granted, it must be redirected to VIHA.

Exit Criteria

  • If an individual experiences a permanent decline in their health condition, a significant increase in care needs, or an inability to make decisions on their own behalf that cannot be reversed, a move from Assisted Living to a more appropriate setting will be necessary
  • A VIHA Home and Community Care Case Manager will assist with this process as required.
