Description

Marrion Village is operated by Baptist Housing. It is a large site of supportive independent housing and Assisted Living.  The complex offers on-site management support in a caring, respectful atmosphere where all members of the staff share a common philosophy of service excellence to tenants. The site is adjacent to the Oak Bay Recreation Centre.

Indoor Features

Activities such as church services and areas designed for special use such as libraries, computer area, pool table and dining and meeting rooms are located on the main floor. There are outdoor areas for gardening and shuffleboard. Tenant charge includes all utilities, basic cablevision. Tenant pays own telephone.

Unit Features

• One-bedroom apartments with fully accessible bathrooms and full service kitchen areas.
• Buildings are linked by enclosed hallways.

Emergency Response

• Pendant-style personal alarm system.
• 24 hour on-site emergency response.

Environmental Considerations

• Manual wheelchair/power wheelchair use throughout building on approval of manager.
• Scooter storage in-suite.

Cost

• Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income for the full package of services.
• Residents under age 65 receiving income assistance pay a pre-determined set rate.
• Residents with higher incomes pay up to a maximum amount based on comparative private services.
• Some units in this setting are funded by Independent Living BC.

Exit Criteria

• If an individual experiences a permanent decline in their health condition, a significant increase in care needs, or an inability to make decisions on their own behalf that cannot be reversed, a move from Assisted Living to a more appropriate setting will be necessary
• A VIHA Home and Community Care Case Manager will assist with this process as required.
