Description

Newly constructed in 2008, this is a four storey, apartment style building.

Conveniently located in James Bay, the building is less than one block from a grocery store, pharmacy, banks and postal services. The nearest bus stop and New Horizons Seniors Activity Centre are just half a block away.

Indoor Features

The building has four floors with elevator access. All common areas are air conditioned. Laundry facilities are available for personal use on the lower level. 

Unit Features

  • One bedroom units.
  • Units include a kitchenette with microwave and fridge.
  • Window coverings are included and windows can be opened.
  • Electric baseboard heating is controlled by the tenant's own thermostat.
  • Clients must subscribe to Telus and Shaw Cable.

Emergency Response

  • Pendant-style personal alarm system.
  • 24 hour emergency response.
  • Cameras monitor common areas.

Environmental Considerations

  • Building is fully wheelchair accessible, with two units purpose-built for full wheelchair use.
  • Walkers, canes, manual or power wheelchairs can be used throughout building.
  • Scooters are not permitted in suites. Convenient charging stations available for battery operated devices.

Cost

  • Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income for the full package of services.
  • Residents under age 65 receiving income assistance pay a pre-determined set rate.
  • Residents with higher incomes pay up to a maximum amount based on comparative private services.
  • This setting is funded by Independent Living BC.

Exit Criteria

  • If an individual experiences a permanent decline in their health condition, a significant increase in care needs, or an inability to make decisions on their own behalf that cannot be reversed, a move from Assisted Living to a more appropriate setting will be necessary
  • A VIHA Home and Community Care Case Manager will assist with this process as required.
