This is a purpose built assisted living addition to the site of the Wellesley, close to downtown Victoria. The newly constructed (2006) building is built to the highest standards and offers accessible accommodation in conjunction with all the services and amenities that the Wellesley and Retirement Concepts can offer.

The building includes a library, a theatre, numerous recreational and social activities as well as a spa room with a Freedom Bath.

• Studio apartments with a small service kitchenette, under counter fridge and microwave shelf.
• Fully accessible bathroom with walk-in shower.

Emergency Response

• Pendant-style personal alarm system.
• 24 hour on-site emergency response.

Environmental Considerations

• Manual or power wheelchairs used throughout.
• Scooter storage available in basement.

Cost

• Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income for the full package of services.
• Residents under age 65 receiving income assistance pay a pre-determined set rate.
• Residents with higher incomes pay up to a maximum amount based on comparative private services.
• This setting is funded by Independent Living BC.

Exit Criteria

• If an individual experiences a permanent decline in their health condition, a significant increase in care needs, or an inability to make decisions on their own behalf that cannot be reversed, a move from Assisted Living to a more appropriate setting will be necessary
• A VIHA Home and Community Care Case Manager will assist with this process as required.
