Description

Privately owned and operated, this 4-storey apartment style building sits in the hub of the Western Communities and borders the Galloping Goose Trail.

Located in Colwood, it is adjacent to numerous retail and food service operations. Across the street are a bus terminal and major recreation complex. Note that the building is set back from major thoroughfare, but traffic is heavy on surrounding streets.

Indoor Features

Cozy fireside lounge with large TV screen, spacious dining room, activity room and workshop area all on lower level. Hairdresser and space with full Jacuzzi tub are located on the third floor and tenants can use the library and computer on the fourth floor.

Laundry rooms with washer and dryer are available on every floor. No charge. Undercover parking available for tenants with vehicles, visitor parking at front door.

Emergency Response

  • Pendant-style personal alarm system.

Environmental Considerations

  • Walkers, canes, manual or power wheelchairs can be accommodated.
  • Scooter use outdoors only, designated storage area.
  • Although the building is accessible, no units are purpose-built for wheelchair use. 

Cost

  • Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income for the full package of services.
  • Residents under age 65 receiving income assistance pay a pre-determined set rate.
  • Residents with higher incomes pay up to a maximum amount based on comparative private services.
  • This setting is funded by Independent Living BC.
  • Tenants of this setting who may be eligible for SAFER subsidy will be notified to apply. If a subsidy is granted, it must be redirected to VIHA.

Exit Criteria

  • If an individual experiences a permanent decline in their health condition, a significant increase in care needs, or an inability to make decisions on their own behalf that cannot be reversed, a move from Assisted Living to a more appropriate setting will be necessary
  • A VIHA Home and Community Care Case Manager will assist with this process as required.
