Crisis and Emergency Services

• Crisis Response Team provides urgent response for adults who may be suicidal or in a psychiatric crisis.

Acute and Short-Term Services

Acute Inpatient Care

• Acute Inpatient Services provides acute inpatient assessment and treatment at  Cowichan District Hospital.

Urgent and Short Term Treatment

• Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment Team (ASTAT) provides services to adults with serious short-term mental health conditions.
• Developmental Disability Mental Health Team (DDMHT) provides consultation and assessment services ONLY.  Serves people fourteen years and older with a demonstrated developmental disability and co-occurring mental illness.

Ongoing Illness Management, Support and Recovery Services

Addiction Services

• Alcohol and Drug Counselling Services provides outpatient alcohol and drug services for people whose lives have been negatively affected by substance use.

Case Management

•  Adult Community Support Services (ACSS) provides outreach case management services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness.

Early Psychosis Intervention

• On Board Program provides early psychosis intervention to 13-30 year olds.

Psychiatric Outpatient Services

• Adult Community Support Services (ACSS) provides outreach case management services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness.
• Developmental Disability Mental Health Team (DDMHT) provides consultation and assessment services ONLY.  Serves people fourteen years and older with a demonstrated developmental disability and co-occurring mental illness.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation

• Open Door provides psychosocial rehabilitation services to people with severe and persistent mental illness.
• There are numerous contracted community services providing a variety of psychosocial services from vocational rehabilitation to leisure.  Please check the community services directory or the mental health centre in your area for more information.

Residential, Housing and Supported Living Services

• Housing Options provides residential services.
• Supported Independent Living (SIL) provides psychosocial support and rent subsidies to people with severe and persistent mental illness.

Seniors' Services

• Seniors Outreach Team (SORT)  provides services to people aged 65 and over who are mentally ill or experiencing age-related changes in behaviour.

VIHA's Child and Youth Mental Health and Youth and Family Addiction Services are delivered separately.
