Screening and Referral Services

• Access/Crisis Services provides general intake for all Adult Mental Health and Addiction Services for the Nanaimo area as well as crisis response.  Close integration with Child and Youth Mental Health Services and Youth Alcohol and Drug Services (ADAPT).

Crisis and Emergency Services

• Crisis Response part of Access Services.  Provides crisis counselling walk-in and emergency crisis response through the 24-hour crisis line 250.754.4447.

Acute and Short-Term Services

Acute Inpatient Care

• Acute Inpatient Services provides acute inpatient assessment and treatment.

Urgent and Short Term Treatment

• Adult Short Term Assessment and Treatment Team (ASTAT) provides services to adults with serious short-term mental health conditions.  
• Developmental Disability Mental Health Team (DDMHT) provides consultation and assessment services ONLY.  Serves people fourteen years and older with a demonstrated developmental disability and co-occurring mental illness.

Withdrawal Management

• Withdrawal Management  part of Access/Crisis Services.  Provides withdrawal management support.

Ongoing Illness Management, Support and Recovery Services

Addiction Services

• Adult Addiction Services Team provides services to adults affected by or at risk of developing alcohol and other drug-related difficulties.

Case Management

• Community Support Team (CST) provides outreach case management services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness.
• Intensive Case Management Program provides case management services to adults with complex recovery needs related to co-occurring serious mental illness and serious chemical dependency. 

Psychiatric Outpatient Services

• Outpatient Psychiatry provides specialized psychiatric consultation.
• Developmental Disability Mental Health Team (DDMHT) provides consultation and assessment services ONLY.  Serves people fourteen years and older with a demonstrated developmental disability and co-occurring mental illness.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation

• Community Support Team (CST) provides outreach case management services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness.
• There are numerous contracted community services providing a variety of psychosocial services from vocational rehabilitation to leisure.  Please check HealthLink BC or the mental health centre in your area for more information.

Residential, Housing and Supported Living Services

• Residential/Housing Support Program provides specialized residential or community housing support.

Seniors Services

• Seniors Outreach Team (SORT) provides services to people aged 65 and over who are mentally ill or experiencing age-related changes in behaviour.

VIHA's Child and Youth Mental Health and Youth and Family Addiction Services are delivered separately.
