Addictions Outpatient Treatment (AOT)

Addictions Outpatient Treatment provides services to adults aged 19 and over who are experiencing drug and alcohol problems. Services are also available to adults currently affected by a family member's use.

Substance Use Intake is located at 1119/1125 Pembroke Street, this is the first step to accessing AOT services.

Access Services

Self-referral for Substance Use Services is initiated by attending in person at Substance Use Intake at 1119 or 1125 Pembroke Street daily between 9:00 am and 8:00 pm and arranging for an appointment to discuss service options.

Referrals from physicians and others may be made through Mental Health and Substance Use Intake. Please fax the MHSU South Island Intake Referral Form and Client/Patient Questionnaire to 250.381.3222.

Referrals from Island Health services can be sent online via Pathways. Clients referred this way will also be required to attend in person.

Services Provided

  • Services are free, voluntary and confidential.
  • Services are staffed by professional counsellors.
  • Physicians are available for consultation for clients of the clinic as necessary.
  • Day and evening support groups for men and women.
  • Daytime co-ed intensive educational groups.
  • Limited individual counselling
  • Gender-specific intensive day treatment groups
  • Referral to other specialized programs, such as residential treatment, supportive recovery and Victoria Withdrawal Management Services.
  • Assessments for the purpose of treatment planning.
  • Other groups on topics related to substance use, concurrent issues, and recovery.

Supportive Recovery Facilities

Lilac Place is a five-bed house for women in the first stages of recovery who require extra support for their recovery.  Women can stay up to three months and staff are available 12 hours per day.  Participation in recovery programs is required during the stay.

Holly Place is a five-bed, second-stage supportive home for women who require extra support for their recovery.  Women can stay up to three months and staff are available four hours per day.  Participation in recovery programs is required during the stay.

The Grove is a ten-bed, second-stage supportive home for men who require extra support in their recovery.  Men can stay for up to three months and staff are available 16 hours per day.  Participation in recovery programs is required during the stay.

  • Access to the above services require a referral from an addictions counsellor done through Pathways or faxed to 250.381.3222.
