Support for Stabilization Groups

  • Vic AM A structured task-based morning group.  Provides daily functional assessment of stabilization.
  • Qi Gong Simple structured movements gently exercise the body and relax the mind.                 
  • Relaxation Stress management and relaxation techniques.
  • West African Drumming Play fun and energetic poly-rhythms in a safe and friendly environment.  No musical experience needed.

Education and Skill Development Groups

  • CBT for Psychosis Learn and practice Cognitive Behavioural Therapy skills for managing hallucinations, paranoia and delusions.
  • Managing Depression  Learn and practice basic CBT skills for managing depression.
  • Relaxation Stress management and relaxation techniques.
  • Sage - Staying Well Illness education and self-management skills for those who have had a longer experience with mental illness.
  • Springboard - Staying Well Illness education and self-management skills for young people with psychosis.

Recovery and Health Promotion Groups

  • Choices  Raise self-awareness and learn information about alcohol and street drug use.  For youth.
  • Power Walking Improve general fitness walking on a community track.  Join community walking events.
  • Qi Gong Develop a leisure activity that gently exercises the body and relaxes the mind.
  • Sage Group support for the recovery process for those who have had a longer experience with mental illness.
  • Springboard Group support for the recovery process for younger individuals.
  • Smoking Cessation Education and support for individuals who are thinking about reducing or quitting smoking.
  • Strength Training Community-based exercise program.  Increase awareness of the positive benefits of activity. Promotes ongoing use of a community exercise facility.
  • West African Drumming Develop a leisure activity playing fun and energetic poly-rhythms in a safe and friendly environment.  Opportunity to perform in community settings.  No musical experience needed.
  • Why Weight  Education, goal-setting and support group to develop healthy eating and exercise habits.  Offered through Victoria Mental Health Centre.  NO REFERRAL TO DAY HOSPITAL REQUIRED.
