Child and Youth Services

VIHA's Child and Youth Mental Health and Youth and Family Addiction Services are administered separately from VIHA's Adult Mental Health and Addiction Services.

The following programs and agencies provide services for people under age 19.

The Integrated Mobile Crisis Response Team serves individuals and families in southern Vancouver Island who are are experiencing immediate concerns related to mental health issues.

Ministry of Child and Family Development - Child and Youth Mental Health provides outpatient community mental health services throughout the province including five locations on Vancouver Island and specialized eating disorders and suicide prevention programs in Victoria. VIHA's Child, Youth and Family Health provides specialized inpatient and outpatient mental health services for the VIHA region through Queen Alexandra Hospital. Physicians, child psychiatrists and mental health professionals may make referrals through the Intake Team.

St. Joseph's General Hospital provides specialized inpatient and outpatient mental health services for the Comox Valley area.

Developmental Disabilities Mental Health Team (DDMHT) provides consultation and assessment services ONLY. Serves people fourteen years and older with a demonstrated developmental disability and co-occurring mental illness.

Youth and Family Addiction Services provide outpatient community addiction services. Services are delivered directly by VIHA or by contracted affiliates. Check here for a list of services in your area (PDF).
